Princess Princess- live action
So, I watched the first episode of the live action version.  Here are my thoughts.

Okay, it wasn't quite the train wreck I thought it was gonna be, but it pales in comparison to the anime and the manga.  It's total crack.  You may need a few drinks in you to wrap your brain around the zaininess of it all.  They attempt to do all the wacky anime standards (cut-aways to inner thoughts, syncronized reactions, etc...)  And it's shot on video, albiet good video, but video nontheless.  I kept expecting it to turn into a porno at any second, which wouldn't have been a bad thing^^  I liked the boys playing Tooru and Mikoto.  They pulled off the roles quite well and looked very cute in their princess get-ups.  The kid playing Youjiro kinda sucked.  He wasn't, I don't know, pretty enough and looked rather dreadful dressed up.  To me, Yuujiro was the prettiest of the three (he's the blond in my icon for anyone not familiar) and I guess I was assuming the same would happen in the live-action.  Nope, he's definitely the manliest.  His character seems the same as the anime, so perhaps I can look past it.  I'm going to give it one more episode to see if I'm going to stick with it or not.  If for nothing else, it's cute boys practically making out with each other and that alone has some interest.  The shonen-ai angle has definitely been amped up a bit.  So, if anyone else out there has seen it and wants to discuss, drop me a line.

First off... Yuujiro is the most professional princess in the anime, I can't believe they'd cast him as manly! I want to check it out. Is it on youtube? (Right now I've been watching Meteor Garden, the Taiwanese live-action Hana Yori Dango.) I think it sounds very cool that this PP live-action is going with the corny/cheesy angle, lol. I kind of missed more of that in things like GTO. But then too much of it might come across as just... well, too much. But for a live-action to amp up the shonen-ai angle is kind of shocking, so I'd love to check it out. Thanks for the review!! :)

I don't know if it's on youtube yet. I dl'd it via torrent. If you want the link, I'll give it.

Yeah, I did a "That's Youjiro!!!" when they were doing the introductions. Mikoto is the cutest, IMO and just like the anime, he *hates* being a princess to the point of running off whenever he can. I saw some screenshots of later eps and yeah, more shonen ai-ish. They practically kiss in the opening song! It gets a little too cheesy with all the comedic hijinks, but as a whole it okay.

Hehe, well, I guess that icon is a manly Yuujiro, so maybe it eventually works in the live-action. Alas I don't have a torrent player (you know how I am!) so I'll have to wait for episodes on youtube. They practically kiss in the opening song! Hee! Oh that is pretty cool. I wonder if it'll be a happier ending in the live action for T&Y. ;)

Yes, there's nothing more manlier than Yuujiro in a wife-beater.^^

No torrent! >.< *sigh* We really need to get you hooked up ;)
