The Electric Kool-aid Absinthe test
Five minutes ago, at 9:05 PM, I drank 1 and 1/2 glasses of Absinthe. It is quite fun to watch as the anti-freeze green liquid turns into a lighter milky-green color as you pour the cold water over the sugar cube. I feel fine. There is a slight buzz, but it's no different than any other alcohol buzz I've ever had. Stay tuned for more updates.

9:35PM- Not feeling anything strange. I got a little giggly with the husband before, but that's normal. I'm a fun drunk.^^ I can't even call this drunk. I just feel ever so slightly buzzed. Maybe I need more. Not sure if I can do it though, this stuff tastes like black licorice...very, very strong black licorice. Ouzo isn't this bad...and I like black licorice. *Sigh* I'm making more Princess Princess icons at the moment.

10:28 PM- Buzz is gone. All I feel now is sleepy. The Green Fairy has not paid me a visit :( So, my final thoughts on Absinthe are that it's no different than anything else. Yes, it's a much higher proof than most liquor, but the walls aren't bleeding colors and I'm not tasting the music. I'm sure if I went buck-wild and drank a shitload of it, things would get tripnotic, but almost 2 glasses did nothing for me. If I have some fucked up dreams tonight, then I'll know what to blame.

11:38 AM 6/24/06- No messed up dreams, but hubbie did say that he felt buzzed again after a few hours. Hmmm...this stuff might be a "creeper." You know? The kind that sneaks up on you.

I was reading your story 'Hold your light' and I read that you had a LJ account and had to check it out. I was very much enjoying the story.
I'm glad to see you post about your absinthe experiment. I can't get anyone to talk to me who has tried it. I have been wanting to try it for a while. Interesting to know that you didn't really get anything off of it. Maybe I'm not too anxious to try now. Nah... I'll still try but I won't have high expectations (pun intended).
Cool Princess Princess icons. I love that show. I have been wanting to make some of my own. I like the Loveless icons you have too. :)

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by and especially for reading my story^^

So, yeah...absinthe. I'm a little disappointed that nothing happened. I probably didn't drink enough or I have some crazy-high tolerence, but it didn't do anything out of the norm. But I'll keep at it until the bottle is done ;) If you do give it a try, let me know how it works out. I don't know anyone else who's tried it.

And Princess Princess is love ^__^ I still can figure out why me, the angst-junkie, loves this show so much. Must be that bishie addiction....

Here, here on the bishi addiction. And I'm am totally an angst-aholic. Gakuen Heaven is another show that I have gotten hooked on recently. Oh the pretties. You should check it out if you haven't already.

Back to the drink, I'm moving in a month or two and my requested drink for the house-warming was absinthe so I'll keep you updated, if your interested, as to the effect I get out of it.

I've been watching Gakuen Heaven as well. I'm a little annoyed that the pace is kinda slow, but the boys sure are pretty^^ Have you read the manga? The anime has been following it fairly well, but it better end with the same hawt boyxboy action or I'm gonna be pissed.

Whaaaaaa...? Well, that's interesting, the experiment and all. Umm... does the licorice taste drown out the alcoholic bit?

Yeah, still only that half a vodka bottle I shared w/ my friend is the only liquor I've drank. Enlighten my ignorance... or something like that. Wait... how much did it cost to get your hands on a drink, and isn't it suppose to be illegal in the states? Actually, nevermind that last question.

Re: Messenger Boy
All you taste is licorice. It's very strong.

As for cost, Absinthe has a range of prices for the good stuff and the not so good stuff. And yes, it's illegal to sell in the states, but not illegal to own. We bought it out of the country so all is well.

Re: Messenger Boy
Out of country? 0_o Interesting... well, how much did it cost exactly? And what would happen if I were to buy it off the net? Hmm...

Re: Messenger Boy
It was about $45, but that was a set that came with a glass and the spoon. Plain bottles will range between $15 - $50 and up. Is it legal in Canada? If it is, then you should have no worries buying it over the internet. I've thought about doing that myself only I have to be careful about where I buy from.

I've never had absinthe, but then I'm not a big spirit drinker; I prefer wine or beer. Is this something you've been wanting to try for a while?

Yes, I've been wanting to try it for a while. Since it can't be sold here in the states, I was thinking about buying off the internet, but we came across some while on vacation in St. Maarten earlier in the month. It's one of those things you hear all about and have to try for yourself.

Re: messenger boy
LOL. Yes and no. I've been wanting to try it for a few years now, but your story did remind me about it.
