Another one of my cats died suddenly Saturday morning.  I noticed his appetite had been gradually declining over the last few months, but he was still begging for people food.  I just figured he didn't like the cat food I was giving him.  He was having trouble breathing Saturday morning so we rushed him to the vet, but he died while they were examining him.  His lungs were filled with fluid.  The vet thinks it may have been heart disease.  He was fourteen.  No spring chicken, but he was still very vibrant so this came as a shock.  He was my first baby.  I got him as a tiny kitten and had to feed him with an eye dropper.  He gave me my internet name.  He was the evil cat.  Since he was hand feed, when he got a little older, he assumed all food was his food and would literally try and steal food out of my mouth while I tried to eat.  There were many meals that ended up on the floor as I attempted to keep him from climbing onto my plate.  This earned him the nickname "evil."  I taught him to "sit" like you would a dog so that I could eat in peace.  I will miss him so much.  He was my bud for a long time.  I have so many stories I can share about our adventures and those stories will get me through the heartache I'm feeling.   Going from 3 cats to 1 in the span of a few months is a bit much.

I sure hate to hear that. Having lost my kitty who was like my child just a few months ago to throat cancer, I completely sympathize with your loss. They become so much a part of the family that it's hard to part with them.

He was a beautiful cat. I'm glad you have some great memories with him.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. They certainly become members of the family. My little guy keeps asking where they two cats have gone. There is only so much he understands about "kitty heaven." :(

That really is hard. They are a huge part of our lives.

They sure are. Life will go on, but right now it still hurts. I have both cats collars. I plan on putting them on our Christmas tree. It's sort of a family tradition. That way every year when I take out the Christmas ornaments, I'll take some time to remember them. My parents still have the collars from the cats we had when I was a kid.

That really is a lovely tradition. I wish we did the same with the two cats we had.
