Oh, my aching foot
It would appear that I have an ingrown toenail on my left big toe.  I finally broke down and accepted this fact.  Its been bothering me for almost a month now and the fact that its been bleeding with a little pus these last couple of days means its infected.  This has never happened to me before so I now have to call a podiatrist tomorrow to have it looked at.  So not looking forward to that.  I can only imagine that this is the result of one of my many toe bashing incidents since I don't wear tight shoes and I don't think I clipped the nail improperly.  Its just another headache (or foot ache) that I don't need.

My son, aka Sasquatch, weighed in at 20 pounds on the nose on his last visit.  At five months, he's already breaking my back.

And I'm sure you're all wondering what I worked on during my time off.  Well, it was P&C.  Due to time constraints I didn't get to write as much as I wanted to, but I'm about 85% completed.  I had planned on it being a shorter chapter than the others, so hopefully it won't be much longer.  I keep saying that, but I feel pretty good about the way things have been unfolding.

Ack! I can never let an ingrown toenail tear into my toe like that. I always end up cutting it away from the side as soon as it starts to hurt, which is what you shouldn't do because it's just a vicious cycle then. I had both big toes derooted when I was younger and don't want to go through that again. I hope you get some help with yours!

Yay P&C!

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what does derooted mean?

The podiatrist gives the toe injections to numb it then cuts down the side (in my case both sides) of the nail and takes that whole slice out by the root, kind of tugging and pulling and cutting. I can tell you I asked for a vomit bucket during the procedure. Afterwards I had to use a powder to keep the bleeding down, keep my toes bandaged, and stay off my feet for a few days. I did get out of gym class for the rest of the school year, though, so that was sweet.

I think these days they can do a less invasive laser surgery for ingrown toenails, right?

Oh no, what I went through was quite invading. See my recent entry for details.

aww... you back to ork already? Good luck!
It's stupid how little things like ingrown toenail and stuff can be a real pain! I always bite the little skins around my fingers, and once, it got infected, believe it or not, I ended up with the worse fever ever and had to stay in bed for three days!!! So take care of it asap and feel better soon!!!

Wow, all that from a little finger infection. I'm working on getting a doctor's appointment ASAP, hopefully tomorrow.

Hope that your toe infection isn't too serious *hugs*!

Thanks for the hugs. I needed them after what I went through at the doctor's office. The antibiotics should help things along.
