Showers of happiness
My baby shower was this past Saturday...

Sweet, merciful crap!  I got so much stuff.  It's all piled up in our garage since the nursery isn't finished.  Well, more to the point, isn't started, but that's due to the fact that the new computer is still not done yet.  The wood floor came in, but we won't be able to install it until next weekend.  But getting back to the shower, this kid will not need clothes for the first year of his life.  I got some of the cutest outfits.  Everyone knows of my love of kemonomimi (humans with animal features such as cat ears and tails) that I got a bunch of little jackets and hats with ears on them.  *squee*  Someone gave me this fleecy winter snow suit that has a monkey face on the hood and a little monkey tail on the back.  Its the cutest thing evar!  lolz

I also received a large number of spoons.  I usually see moms-to-be getting overloaded with pacifiers at showers.  Me, I got spoons.  *shrugs*  That's okay, I know I'll need them.   Surprisingly,  I didn't get that many duplicates.  I got two baby monitors and two crib aquariums, so those are the only things I need to return.   But I would have to say, one of the best gifts I received wasn't for the baby, per se.  My aunt gave me a copy of a picture my grandmother drew back in the day when I was a kid.  Its of a mother holding her baby and while you can't see it, the position lets you know they are in the shower.  There is tasteful, baby butt nudity.  The expressions on the faces are so amazing, I found myself staring at it all the time when I was younger, fascinated.  My grandmother was a very talented artist and I am thrilled to have a copy of that picture.  I also have another painting she did especially for me when I was 4.  It's one of my most valued possessions.

My mom and mother-in-law outdid themselves.  The theme of the shower was Candyland.  I had made an offhand comment about always wanting to eat the places pictured on the game board over the summer while watching my niece play it and my mom ran with the idea.  She had giant decorations of gingerbread men, peppermint sticks, lollipops, etc...all over.  And the cake, oh sweet lord, the cake.  It was every diabetics nightmare, but damn was it gorgeous.  A friend of my brother's made it up to look like the game and it was covered in rock candy, starbursts, marshmellows, red hots...you name it, it was probably on there.

I hope to have some pictures soon.  I'll be able to give a more detailed account then.   My brain is shot.

Awww, I really want to see that picture now. Sounds like a wonderful shower. That Candyland theme is so cute! All the spoons made me imagine the baby food messiness. There are so many things to look forward too! LOL. And if you think your brain is shot now... ;) The best thing is knowing that you have so many people around to support your growing family, so make sure to take advantage of them that when you need some help or you-you/hubby time in the future.

I plan on using both sets of parents as much as possible, no worries there. But yeah, it was a great shower. I hope to have some pictures real soon. You have to see the cake. It was wild.
