Still recovering....

from the block party at my parent's house yesterday.

My birthday always seems to fall around this block party and I never mind since all my family and friends are usually there.  Well, because I'm turning 30 they went all out.  Tons of food, two cakes- one sheet cake and one ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery(yumm!) and they even hired a magician for me.  How crazy is that?  He did a show for the neighbourhood kids and then I got a personal slight-of-hand show afterwards.  I guess they didn't want me to feel old.

It was also 95 degrees (Farenheit) and humid as all hell.  My body is still aching from all the volleyball we played and I can't remember the last time I sweated so much.  Anyway, my uncle had the bright idea to bring water balloons which my 4 year old neice thought were the greatest things on the planet and was throwing them at everyone's feet.  Well, she comes over to me at one point carrying this water balloon that was almost the size of a newborn and she wanted me to throw it a my hubbie.  I was nice and threw it at his feet.  Well, she then runs back to get another and I follow her to a kiddie pool filled with these gi-normous balloons.  So, I take one and come up behind my friends who were sitting down talking and jokingly hold it up over each one's head.  I wasn't going to do anything, but one friend told me he wanted it, so I popped it over his head.  It was like a small waterfall.  Ha ha, we all had a good laugh.  Well, the now-drenched friend runs off to get a balloon and procedes to pop one over two other friends. I knew I was going to eventually get one so I didn't bother to hide from it.  Well, they got me good.  I was sitting down having a nice chat when I get one balloon over the head and my brother gets me with another two to the back.  It was was refreshing in the heat, but I was soaked for the rest of the night.  My denim shorts are still wet, I think.  And if that wasn't bad enough, about an hour later the same friend who I got eariler, got me again...right before cake and presents.  The pictures must be hi-larious.

Now onto the good stuff- the presents.  Everyone really got me some wonderful things that I absolutely adore.  My in-laws bought me two beautiful glass goblet candle holders (blue & purple), pewter candle sticks, and a set of Japanese soup bowls w/chopsticks and spoons. My brother got me an awesome pewter dragon for my collection.  My parents got me tickets to Spam-a-lot!  *Does happy dance*  For those of you who are confused, Spam-a-lot is a Broadway production of Monty Python and the Holy Grail...one of my all-time favorite comedies.  I can't wait to go!  And hubbie...my dear, sweet hubbie surprised me the most with an I-Pod.  I was so shocked.  I hadn't really put much thought into owning one, but now that I do...I can truly say that these things are the greatest.  I spent most of today playing with it.  Even though my B-day isn't offically until tomorrow, everyone made me feel so wonderful and truly blessed to have so many loving family and friends.

Sorry to say that no writing was done this weekend.  Oh, well...will work on "Light" this week and who knows?  Maybe I'll finish it.
