Gooble, gobble....have a great day everyone!

Yesterday, my son's toddler class in day care were asked what they were thankful for this Thanksgiving. The teacher wrote all the responses down on a paper and sent one home with each kid. All of the other kid's had answers like "daddy" or "grandma." My kid's answer- "bikes." That's my boy! LOL

Here is something I don't get to do often since I usually full-on delete something I write that I don't like. It's very rare that I get pretty far with a piece of work that I don't like the direction its going in and start from scratch. Usually its not the piece as a whole that I have a problem with, but portions of it. The basic structure stays, but I will tweak the sections I feel are in need of it. "Tabula Rasa" started out quite differently than the finished product you read. For whatever reason, I decided to hold on to that first draft. If any of you are interested in my writing process, maybe this is a small glimpse into it. You have the unique opportunity to see where the idea started and where it ended. All I can say is that I'm glad I bailed on it. I have no clue how I was going to write myself out of this one. lol

My entry for the Gundam 00 Summer Fic Exchange.  I didn't win, but had a good time all-in-all.

Title:  Tabula Rasa
Rating:  NC-17
Summary:  Lyle thought he had everything figured out until he discovers Tieria’s dirty little secret.
Warnings:  Yaoi, graphic sex, gender-bending, adult language, a dash of angst.  AU-ish if you like.  Lyle is not a very nice guy in this and I’ve tweaked a few facts.

Original prompt:

Characters/Pairings: Tieria/Lyle!Lockon, Nena/Wang Liu Mei, Kati/Patrick
Prompts/Scenarios: "Replacement for the one I lost", "Secret Hatred", "Honeymoon"
Kinks: Angst, Snark, Defrosting Ice Queen, hate!sex, Dominance/Submission, uniform fetish, Dirty talk, AUs, drunk/alcohol
Squicks: Extreme fluff and that's it really. ;D
Maximum Rating: NC-17

Author’s Notes:  For this challenge I combined the scenarios “replacement for the one I lost” with a little “secret hatred” starring Tieria and Lyle.

I'm considering signing up for another fic exchange.  This time its for Bleach- specifically Ichigo/Ishida.  I seem to be becoming addicted to these things.  I think the voting for the last Gundam 00 one I entered ends today.  We'll see how I did, but either way, I'll be posting it here shortly for all to read.

Felt like writing tonight for the first time in a while.  Maybe I'll get that chapter of "Fata Morgana" out sooner rather than later.

Thank you everyone who dropped me a line.  I've been remiss about responding individually, but I want you to know that I am very grateful for your thoughts and kind words.  Even though we have not met in person, I am glad that you consider me a friend.

We're all doing well now, in the aftermath.  While we'll always miss her, I'm happy that she is no longer suffering.

My mother-in-law lost her battle with cancer this morning.  I wish it didn't have to end this way for a woman who was so full of life and energy that she made me exhausted just watching her.   She passed on in her sleep, hopefully dreaming of better times.  I don't think its fully hit home for us yet even though we have had time to gear ourselves up for this inevitability.  She will be missed dearly.

So, the New York state lotto has been running these TV spots for their new "sweet millions" campaign.  The first one involved puppies, kittens, and piglets dressed in pajamas doing various sleep over things.  Very cute.  But the latest one...oh, the latest one.  Prepare yourself to die from an overload of teh cute.  There are bunnies...you have been warned.

I've hit a massive roadblock with the latest chapter of "Light."  So, rather than trying to force what won't come right now, I've turned my attention to the next chapter of "Fata Morgana" in the hopes of getting something out soon.  Sorry everyone, "Light" is going to have to wait a bit longer.

But it was an awesome adventure.  Getting up at 5:30 in the morning to drive to Pennsylvania, however, was not.  Hubbie and I drove into Queens to meet up with my cousin, her husband, and step-brother to carpool to PA.  We had to get there by 10 AM and the ride was estimated at around 2 and a half hours.  We got there with time to spare, but missed our 10:30 check-in time because some others in our party were late....fail.  But we didn't have to wait too long and were on our way down to the river by 11:30.  The water was moving fairly well so there weren't too many spots that required a lot of paddling, but the rapids weren't too intense, just enough for you to have a good time without worrying that you were going to die.

Our raft stayed ahead of the pack for most of the day.  We were the trailblazers!  lol  In actuality, we were more like psychos.  My cousins had us taking the rapids sideways, backwards...on purpose!  At one point one of the guides asked us if we trusted him and we were like "yeah."  So, he guided us through a set of rapids while spinning!  That was crazy and I can only imagine everyone else in our group were looking at us like we lost our minds.  I did start to get annoyed with my cousin's husband and step-brother because they were purposely aiming for the rocks and that was all kinds of bad as I almost got tossed and the raft almost flipped on one particularly bad hit.  We ended up getting caught up right before the end of the trip.  We got stuck on on rock in the front of the raft and it swung us around and right onto another rock on the back of the raft.  It took my cousin's husband jumping out and pulling us off to free us.  So there we are hurtling down the river with him hanging on to the side of the raft while everyone is trying to pull him back in, the current sucking him under the raft, and me and my cousin trying to raft us in to the extraction point.  We got him back in the raft in the nick of time.  He would have been shredded on the sharp rocks in the shallows where we were heading.

I'm surprisingly not as sore as I remember being back in the day.  The fact that we only did 9 miles may have had something to do with it.  I seem to recall doing 12 in the past.  My arms, neck, and shoulders still ache, and my butt bone in my left cheek hurts from how you have to sit on the edge of the raft to row, but all things considered, I feel pretty good.   I can't wait to go again next year!

Well, not really, but I am going whitewater rafting tomorrow for the first time in....egads 12 years.  I used to go every year as a teenager, but we stopped when I was in college.  It's going to be lots of fun.  I'll have a full report on Sunday.  That is, if I can lift my arms to type.  There will be a lot of rowing involved.  lol

But I really have nothing to say.  I could talk about how much I hate my health insurance and Obama's speech, but I figure most of you who read my journal are probably uninterested in my political views.  And besides, I'll probably just get myself all worked up and upset.  So, I'll settle for some random lyrics to a Bob Marley song that I've had stuck in my head all night.  :)

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', This is my message to you-ou-ou.
...saying don't worry
about a thing.
Cuz every little thing's
gonna be alright.

And, I sure hope it will.

Forgot to mention that posting for that Gundam 00 contest I entered a while back has begun over at [info]doubleexchange   Now, I'm not supposed to say which one is mine, but I will say that it has posted already in the "open fic" category.  Think you can guess which one is mine?  Go for it.  I'll post it here after the reveal.  I'm still waiting to see what was written for the request I put in....hee hee.

LOL!  Had a good weekend despite it being amazingly hot.  Finally, it feels like summer around here.  Figures now that its almost September.

So, yeah, I'm another year older.  It's funny that when you were a teenager, 40 sounded so old.  Now, the closer I get, 40 doesn't seem so old anymore.

Still working on "Light" slowly, but surely.

My dear readers, go and see District 9 as soon as possible.  It was one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

Thank you, goodnight.

My husband is reading up on the new auto insurance policy for his car and found this clause:

PART D - COVERAGE FOR DAMAGE

TO YOUR COVERED AUTO

DEFINITIONS

A.  "Other than collision" includes loss to "your

covered auto" caused by missiles or falling

objects; fire; theft or larceny; explosion or

earthquake; windstorm; hail, water or flood;

malicious mischief or vandalism; riot or civil

commotion; contact with bird or animal; or

breakage of glass. If breakage of glass is

caused by a "collision", you may elect to

have it considered a loss caused by

"collision".
